200 Vials of Fomepizole Kidney Failure Cure Arrived in Indonesia

A total of 200 bottles of fomepizole, an antidote to ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol in patients with acute kidney failure arrived in Indonesia. Imported from Japan which is the contribution of PT Takeda Indonesia.

Exactly arrived in Indonesia on Saturday (29/10) at 2 am. The government once again ensured that drugs were given for free. “This donation is carried out with good intentions in the name of humanity for the sake of the health of Indonesian children,” said the Minister of Health.

Fomepizole was distributed to all Indonesian regional referral hospitals after this drug was declared effective as 10 out of 11 mysterious acute kidney failure patients gradually recovered.

“Three children no longer require ventilators and 1 person has been sent home,” the Indonesian Ministry of Health said in a written statement.

Indonesia has so far imported fomepizole from Singapore to Japan and plans to follow the United States.

“This is an effort we are making to prevent the increase in cases of atypical progressive acute kidney disease. We will distribute it to all government hospitals that treat patients with acute kidney disorders,” said the Minister of Health.
